Moxibustion

Moxibustion: Ancient Heat Therapy

Often simply termed "Moxa," Moxibustion is an esteemed heat therapy method utilizing the Chinese herb, Mugwort. Applied to precise acupuncture points, this practice is rooted in the prevention and treatment of various ailments. From a clinical standpoint, it stands out for boosting immunity, invigorating physical strength, warming muscles, alleviating digestive issues, and providing relief from persistent conditions like arthritic pain.

Scientifically-Backed Benefits
Extending beyond traditional claims, contemporary research corroborates the diverse benefits of Moxibustion. Some established findings include:

  • Regulation of blood sugar levels.

  • Augmentation of adrenal gland activity.

  • Stimulation in the production of white and red blood cells, as well as platelets.

  • Modulation of blood's chemical composition, curtailing inflammatory responses.

Typically, Moxa is shaped into a cigar-like "Moxa Stick" which, once ignited, is hovered over designated body regions. This treatment aims to optimize the flow of Qi (energy) by warming it. Furthermore, during acupuncture treatments, Moxa can be affixed to a stainless steel needle, a method known as the "Warm Needle Technique," amplifying the therapeutic impacts of the session. This treatment, characterized by its safety and warmth, is not just comforting to receive but also reaches deeply into the body.
